I know that I need to get back to my Kiwiville story, and I will. Maybe I’ll be able to do it tomorrow, but within the week, surely. But this evening, I didn’t do that because instead, I did this:

I’ve uploaded a Skint Expat video onto YouTube. It’s my first attempt; I’m trying to learn to make these cartoony things and this was my first go. Have a look at and listen to that. I bought an audio interface for my computer and a decent microphone to do the audio (I tried with the built-in mic on my laptop, but as expected, it was;t good enough. I think this one is). Yes, it’s short; only a minute and a half or something, but it was my first go, and it took me HOURS, hahaha. I do not have a natural talent for any of this stuff. I think it came out well enough to post, though, and I expect that if I keep at it, I’ll only get better. One hopes.

Thanks for reading. And watching, if you so choose.

LOVE the cartoon-y video! Believe me, I know how much time this stuff takes. At Del-Tech I was introduced to Adobe Premier and (now-defunct) Macromedia Director, where I learned how difficult it is to make objects spin in a circle unless you are a math whiz (took me an entire semester to get it right) and what “tweening” is. Your voice sounds mellow, deep and calm; definitely a good microphone choice. Can’t wait to see more! Have you shared this site with Dad? If not, is it okay if I send him a link?

Oh, and I’m still typing my name and email every. single. time. Either the checkbox still doesn’t work, or you have to enter it anew on each article. Not sure which, but just wanted you to know. I type almost faster than I can think.

Thanks for the comments! Yeah, making these is difficult for me, but it’s getting easier with practice. I have another one on the way, hopefully on Saturday. I haven’t shared this with Pop, or at least I don’t think so. I don’t think he’ll be wildly impressed, but feel free to show it to him. I don’t know what to tell you about the checkbox. I only kind of know what you’re talking about, hahaha. I’ll ask my friend Karol, who helps me with this stuff. But thanks again for subscribing.

We’ve improved the comment system. In addition to looking different, it should also work better. There is no checkbox anymore, but the name and email should be saved automatically. Greg will only see the change in about 6 hours, I hope he’ll like it, haha.

It looks great! OK I’m testing the name and email fields with this comment…

ABOUT THE SKINT EXPAT

I have been an expat for more than 30 years now. I’m originally from the United States, though at this point that hardly matters. In that time, I’ve played music with bands and recorded and released solo music, I’ve been an English teacher for most of that time, and now I’m doing a blog about all of it.
